Teru Kuresaka is a young man who is brutally killed, only to awaken in a strange place alongside other people who should also be dead. Instead of being allowed to return to a normal life, Teru and the others are given a mysterious second chance by an unknown organization. There is a condition attached to their resurrection. The group must hunt and eliminate specters, supernatural entities that ordinary people cannot see or interact with. Because only resurrected people like Teru can fight them, the group is repeatedly summoned to dangerous missions while their remaining lifespan continues to run out. Teru is joined by several other resurrected individuals, including the outspoken and independent Aira Mitsumine, the gentle housewife Manami Mera, and others whose own circumstances gradually become part of the larger mystery. Meanwhile, Teru's childhood friend Mao remains connected to his life outside the strange world of specter hunting. As the group continues their missions, they struggle to maintain the appearance of normal lives while dealing with violence, death, and the psychological consequences of being forced to kill. Their resurrection also causes intense sexual urges, creating another difficult aspect of their unnatural existence. As Teru investigates the circumstances surrounding their deaths and resurrection, questions begin to emerge about who brought them back, why they were chosen, and whether they can ever return to their former lives. The choices made throughout the story lead to different routes and endings, gradually revealing more about the truth behind the DEAD DAYS.
