After the events of A Tale of Cutthroat Lovers, the protagonist and Azami remain connected to the dangerous world of Kabukicho. The protagonist continues living between his ordinary life at the hotel and his existence as a professional hitman, while Azami remains a central figure in his life. Woolly Eyes GAIDEN returns to this setting with five new stories that expand the world and introduce new situations involving the people surrounding the protagonist. Azami remains an important part of the story, while detectives, yakuza members, criminals, and other residents of Kabukicho become involved in various conflicts and schemes. Among the characters are Haruhiko Nire, an elite police detective investigating the darker side of Kabukicho, and Sayuki Ugai, a corrupt detective connected to the Aoike Gathering. Mirei Bessho, a close friend of Azami, also becomes involved in the events, alongside members of the yakuza and Chinese criminal organizations operating throughout the district. The GAIDEN stories explore different sides of the characters and the criminal underworld established in the original game. As the protagonist and Azami become caught up in new incidents, relationships, rivalries, and dangerous encounters develop across the five episodes.
